Corel Corporation purchases a P-Synch licenseMay 2, 2000
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
M-Tech, Mercury Information Technology Inc., the industry leader in password management software solutions, today announced that a license to use the P-Synch Total Password Management solution has been purchased by Corel Corporation. Corel, best known for its flagship WordPerfect and CorelDRAW product lines, develops and markets solutions for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, Macintosh, DOS and UNIX. Corel's requirement to provide secure multi-platform access to their internal users led to their requirement for the most robust password management solution available
Corel's purchase of P-Synch coincides with the release of P-Synch Version 4.2. The latest version of P-Synch now offers transparent synchronization from LDAP (traditional versions of P-Synch have offered this feature from NT only), support for GroupWise and Lotus Notes, and a centralized username database that normalizes user IDs across multiple systems.
P-Synch is designed to reduce the costs associated with password management in two ways:
When passwords are synchronized, users only have to remember one password in order to gain access to a variety of systems. Because users are not juggling several different passwords, administrators can enforce stringent password strength rules.
If users forget their password and are locked out of the system, P-Synch will enable them to reset the password once they have authenticated themselves on the basis of personal stored information.
