New release simplifies configuration, introduces convenience features for IT administrators.
Calgary, Canada -- March 2, 2009 -- Hitachi ID Systems, a leading provider of identity management (IdM) solutions, is pleased to announce the release of a new version of Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager. The new version improves usability for the installer and for IT users -- it is significantly easier to configure and to use.
Privileged Access Manager 5.2 introduces three major new features:
- Auto-discovery of target systems and their local privileged login IDs.
In particular, a new, built-in mechanism automatically finds every Windows server in an Active Directory domain and initiates management of local administrator and service account passwords.
- Auto-connection of administrator sessions to target systems.
This feature eliminates the need for IT users to see or have access to sensitive passwords. Instead, they launch administative sessions, using protocols such as SSH or RDP, right from the Privileged Access Manager web UI.
- Auto-configuration of baseline security policies, including resource groups to manage administrator and service accounts on both servers and workstations.
“Our goal with this release was to make life easier for administrators in both large and small organizations. In a small organization, our objective was to enable an IT generalist to configure Privileged Access Manager and go to production in about 1 hour. In large enterprises, our objective was to support management of privileged passwords on as many as 50,000 systems, without ongoing, manual intervention,” said Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID CTO.
“These features, along with the industry-leading workflow engine, replication capabilities and rich connectors available in previous Privileged Access Manager releases, make this newest version the most compelling solution for securing administrator and service account passwords available,” said Dawn Mallyon, Hitachi ID' Director, Marketing.
