Definition of Identity Management System

An Identity Management System is intended to streamline the management of user objects on one or more systems or Directories.

It operates on user objects, identity attributes and security privileges.

It may include automated change propagation, self-service, Delegated User Administration and consolidated administration by administrative staff.
