Definition of SSH

Ssh is the Secure Shell. It is a drop-in replacement for Unix Rlogin, Rsh and Rcp commands. It improves on them by incorporating Asymmetric Encryption and a simple Public Key Infrastructure.

Ssh also provides additional functionality, such as TCP port forwarding, X-Windows authentication forwarding and compression.
