Institute of the ETH Zurich, (Technical University) - We do teaching and research in Cartography. Main Interests are in Multimedia Cartography, Internet Mapping, 3D-Visualization, GIS and Cartography, Topographic Maps.


Department of Cartography, ETH Zurich uses Linux for the following functions:

    • Print spooler using lpd (Unix, NFS clients)

    • Image preparation with CorelDraw.
    • Document preparation with FrameMaker.
    • Graphics prepared with GIMP.
    • Other document management.

    • Apache.
  • Databases

    • mySQL.
  • Internet client software - WWW

    • NetScape Navigator.
    • Lynx.
  • Internet client software - mail
