Princeton's Office of Information Technology Selects M-Tech's Identity Management Suite to Address User Account Provisioning and Security
IT Office Capitalizes on Successful P-Synch Implementation with ID-Synch Initiative
Calgary, AB - May 4, 2005 - M-Tech Information Technology, Inc., a leading provider of identity management solutions, today announced that the Office of Information Technology at Princeton University has selected ID-Synch to manage campus-wide user ID provisioning for its 12,000 staff and students.
Princeton's IT organization implemented P-Synch three years ago to address security concerns relating to weak passwords and inadequate controls over password management business processes http://Hitachi-ID.com/news/rel_20030106. P-Synch is now in daily use by all users at Princeton. IT staff were able to leverage P-Synch's unique architecture to implement on their own without any requirement for technical services from M-Tech, and have enjoyed a high return on investment (ROI), low total cost of ownership (TCO) and enhanced security.
The Office of Information Technology at Princeton is planning to retire an existing mainframe system in 2005. Among other applications, this currently houses the university's complex, home-grown user access administration system. They decided to replace their legacy software with a commercial user provisioning system and, after an open competition and a successful proof of concept evaluation, chose ID-Synch, M-Tech's user provision solution.
ID-Synch will be deployed to manage the lifecycle of systems access for all campus users, from undergraduate enrollment through alumni. It will be integrated with a broad range of systems and infrastructure at the university, including human resources, Windows domains, LDAP directories, Unix servers, Exchange mail servers and more.
"We selected M-Tech because they clearly understood our requirements and IT environment," says Dan Oberst, Director of Enterprise Infrastructure Services. "M-Tech already has a positive track record with Princeton, and they offered us a cost effective solution, combined with a credible commitment to meet hard deadlines."
ID-Synch is expected to go into production at Princeton in August, 2005.
"We are seeing an increasing number of our P-Synch customers turning to ID-Synch to address their user provisioning requirements," says Idan Shoham, M-Tech CTO. "ID-Synch is built on P-Synch's infrastructure, with similar design goals. This architecture guarantees early deployment, high ROI and low TCO," added Shoham.
ID-Synch offers a combination of automation and self-service features to accelerate deployment within organizations. Its unique design eliminates the need for costly and time consuming role engineering and enables activation of high volume workflows within months.
ID-Synch manages not only user access to systems, but it also administers disk quotas and enforces privacy settings, as mandated by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
