Organizations can improve security, control costs
Health care companies can improve security and control the costs of meeting HIPAA regulations with P-Synch, M-Tech's total password management solution.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandates regulations that govern privacy, security, and administrative simplification standards for health care information. HIPAA regulations require:
- Security standards protecting the confidentiality and integrity of "individually identifiable health information," past, present or future.
- Unique health identifiers for individuals, employers, health plans and health care providers.
Compliance with the privacy rules is required by April 14, 2003.
How P-Synch can help
P-Synch can increase your organization's internal network security AND reduce the effort of account administration.
Security
"Easy-To-Guess" passwords are regarded as a top ten threat to network security. P-Synch improves security with over 50 possible enforceable password strength rules (for example, minimum length, mixed case, no dictionary words, and so on) to prevent the use of weak, easy-to-guess passwords.
Administration
Unique identifiers for individuals, employers, health plans and health care providers can be very difficult to manage. With the use of strong passwords, users with multiple accounts may have difficulty remembering all their different passwords.
P-Synch tackles this problem with:
- Password synchronization, so users only have to remember a single strong password.
- Password self-reset to allow users to reset their own password if they forget it.
- Streamlined help desk reset to reduce call times for any remaining password related calls to the help desk.
P-Synch is already deployed to many US health regulations including:
- Chilton Memorial Hospital
- Humana Inc.
- Indian River Memorial Hospital
- National Medical Services Laboratory
- University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Authority
