Hitachi ID Systems, Inc. Announces Release of P-Synch 6.4.2.
New release fully supports Windows 2008 and Lotus Notes R8, along with various functional enhancements.
Calgary, Alberta, Canada - July 10, 2008 - Hitachi ID Systems, Inc., a leading provider of identity management software, today announced the release of P-Synch 6.4.2. with updated integrations and various functional enhancements to the industry's leading password management solution.
P-Synch is one of five core identity management modules in the Hitachi ID Management Suite - a complete identity management solution that enables organizations to more securely and efficiently manage the user lifecycle across enterprise applications and systems.
"In today's challenging economic environment, it is more important than ever to deploy solutions that reduce IT support costs. Our customers have a great track record of significantly reducing password-related help desk call volume with P-Synch, and we believe version 6.4.2 will make this easier than ever," said Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID's CTO.
This release also marks the coming end of the guaranteed level of support for older versions of P-Synch, up to version 6.2.9. Customers running P-Synch version 6.2.9 and earlier are encouraged to upgrade by the end of 2009, when SLA targets for P-Synch 6.2.9 and earlier will no longer be guaranteed.
Changes in P-Synch 6.4.2 include:
- Windows 2008 support: as a host platform, a target system, a password synchronization trigger system and a host for the secure kiosk account.
- Support for workstations running Lotus Notes R8.
- Official support for multiple, separate password policies on the same Active Directory domain trigger system (PSINTCPTX).
- Official support for password synchronization triggered from 64-bit Windows server operating systems.
- A productized and well-documented mechanism for workstations to launch a temporary VPN connection, over which remote users can access self-service password reset.
- Re-branding to Hitachi ID
"Password management tools provide self-service password reset and password synchronization across a broad range of target systems. These capabilities can reduce help desk calls volumes by more than 80%," states Gartner in a report titled, "Identity and Access Management Technologies Defined, 2008."
"This is one in a series of significant product releases we will be announcing in the latter half of 2008," said Gideon Shoham. "Major enhancement announcements for other Hitachi ID Management Suite modules including ID-Synch, ID-Certify, ID-Archive and ID-Access will follow," he added.
