A self-service access request is a request by a user to modify his own identity attributes or to request some new access rights. These requests are normally made via a request portal in an IAM system.
Self-service access requests have a requester/recipient and may have authorizers or implementers. They must also have a payload -- specifying what changes will be made to the recipient's profile. The payload consists of operations that will be made on target systems. These operations may specify security groups that the recipient's accounts should be attached to or removed from and/or identity attributes to apply to the user's profile.
